More Information

Your venue holds a story that no stock design can tell. Commission a custom watercolor envelope liner painted by Jaime Coast — a fine art watercolor artist whose work has been featured in Brides, People, and Martha Stewart Weddings — and give your guests a glimpse of your wedding day the moment they open the envelope.

Each liner begins as an original, hand-painted watercolor artwork created specifically for your order. No templates. No AI-generated illustrations. Jaime paints every piece by hand in her signature luminous watercolor style and the result is something that feels like your wedding — not anyone else's.

The finished artwork is sent digitally and reproduced with high-quality digital printing onto a frame-worthy keepsake print on watercolor paper.

THE PROCESS

1. Order & Onboarding
Select your quantity and add to cart. Within 48 hours of your order, you'll receive an onboarding form to submit your reference photos, preferred colors, level of detail, and any notes for Jaime. The more you share, the more personal the result. If you're not sure what to share, no worries! We can do the research for you to find the best reference photos or recommend additional locations and details to create the perfect piece.

2. Original Artwork Creation
Jaime paints your custom artwork by hand. This is the step that sets Cotton & Bow apart — you are commissioning an original watercolor, not requesting a digital illustration from a template library. Typical turnaround for the artwork is 2–4 weeks from the time your completed onboarding form is received. You'll receive a round of sketches and a round of paintings. Feedback can be accommodated in both rounds to ensure your vision is being captured.

3. Digital Proof & Revisions
Before anything goes to print, you'll receive a digital proof of your map design for review and approval. Revisions to the artwork are included as part of the proofing process. We want you to love it completely before it's printed.

4. Printing & Fulfillment
Once approved, your map file is sent digitally in the specs you require for your project and a keepsake print is shipped for you to frame as an heirloom of your commissioned work.

WHAT MAKES A GOOD REFERENCE PHOTO?

Because this is an original work of art, photos are completely optional! We can use professional venue websites, amateur snap shots, google maps, and even combine multiple photos to create the perfect original work.

If you'd like to provide photos, the most beautiful maps come from clear, well-lit photos of your locations most distinctive architectural or landscape features — a favorite coffee shop, a mountain range, local trees and animals, a historic venue. The more detail you provide in your onboarding form about the mood, palette, the more closely the final artwork will reflect your vision.

ORDERING NOTES

While we do not limit the number of locations per map, a mix of smaller icons and more detailed buildings typically looks best. We recommend that you don’t ask us to paint more than 5 detailed buildings / locations with 3-5 smaller icons or it starts to look overly busy and not like the beautiful inspiration pictures you see online. Also keep in the mind how close together the locations are. If you ask us to paint 10 locations that are very close together, along with a few that are super far away, that also doesn’t lead to a very balanced map. After doing this for many years, we have developed a great expertise on how to get a great-looking map and are here to help guide you!

The process includes up to three revisions per round (e.g. per sketch, per painting, final edit, etc.). Revisions include minor changes to proportions, details, color changes, etc. A redesign or requests for entirely new paintings are not revisions. You’ll be asked to confirm the number of locations before sketching begins. New locations cannot be added after the final sketches are approved.

You’ll be granted a non-exclusive, non-transferable unlimited personal license to the artwork. No commercial use of the artwork is allowed. It may not be resold or made available to download elsewhere. If you need to use this map for a client's stationery, please reach out for a commercial license agreement at no additional cost.
